The Kayalu R25™ electric torch is ideal when you need a hand-held 360° light to display to other paddlers, boaters and vessel operators in the dark, or in conditions of limited visibility such as rain, fog, sleet or snow.

Why name this light the R25? R25 is short for "Rule 25."

United States Coast Guard Navigation Rule 25(d) , which applies to unmotorized kayaks, canoes, dinghies and sailboats, states:

• A sailing vessel of less than 7 meters in length shall, if practicable, exhibit the lights prescribed in paragraph (a) or (b) of this Rule, but if she does not, she shall have ready at hand an electric torch or lighted lantern showing a white light which shall be exhibited in sufficient time to prevent collision.

• A vessel under oars may exhibit the lights prescribed in this rule for sailing vessels, but if she does not, she shall have ready at hand an electric torch or lighted lantern showing a white light which shall be exhibited in sufficient time to prevent collision.

The Kayalu R25™ meets this USCG requirement for an electric torch.

The R25™ electric torch is waterproof, submersible to 1000 feet (300 m) below sea level, with a ruggedized body and lamp housing.

The R25's unique double-gasket seal protects batteries, electronics and LED from exposure to marine water, rainwater and humidity.

The R25 operates for 200 hours on 3 AA batteries (included), and has an LED lamp life of over 10,000 hours.

The R25 includes a nylon coated lanyard that can be slipped over your wrist, capable of being stretched over a wristwatch or thick sleeve.

The R25 includes a marine-grade, stainless steel split ring for securely attaching the light to a clip, carabiner, PFD, crate, paddle leash, kayak deck rigging, an existing mount or pole, or other location for easy access.

The R25's Day-Glo orange body makes it easy to spot when you're rooting around for a light under moonlight or starlight.

The R25 has two shoulder slots which can accept a strap for binding the light to an arm or leg.

The R25 is shipped tested and fully assembled with its split ring and lanyard attached.
