Kayalite-SUP Portable Light for Stand-Up Paddleboards

We're proud to introduce Kayalite‑SUP™, a portable, 360° high-visibility light for stand-up paddleboards.

Capable of recovering from a rollover in shallow surf or direct impact, the Kayalite–SUP's patented mounting system represents a significant improvement over alternative SUP night visibility products, particularly lights and gear relying on suction cups, rigid bases and poles.

The Kayalite-SUP can be clipped and pulled taut to a SUP leash plug cross-bar, leash plug slip knot, FCS fin plug, D-Ring, or any existing eyelet or deck loop on the SUP deck.

The Kayalite-SUP is virtually loss-proof and indestructible, sustaining the inadvertant paddle whack, rigors of tightly packed expedition gear and the battering of ocean breakers. Not only is the Kayalite-SUP waterproof and submersible, it floats if accidentally dropped overboard. Try to find these features alone in any other SUP light!

There is simply no better portable, all-around light whether you're a novice or experienced paddler. The advantage of a Kayalite-SUP is immediately evident once you clip its mast to your deck.

Attaching a SUPClip clip to a SUP leash plug

Patented Secure-Attach™ technology and our new SUP-Clip

The secret of the Kayalite-SUP is our patented mounting technology that overcomes the limitations of the rigid pole, suction-cup, magnets and other portable lighting solutions. It's built to work, and last a lifetime.

A tension cable passing through the center of the Kayalite mast holds the light firmly upright on its base while preventing it from accidentally detaching.

Plan on using the Kayalite-SUP in many ways with little risk of loss because of its steel breech clip, 1/4" thick nylon-coated tension cable and hand-crimped stainless steel hogring.

Attach the clip and pull it taut to the deck of your stand-up paddleboard or sit-on-top, a canoe seat, laterally affixed to a mast — in a jam it can even be clipped to an existing bungee, tie-down, sheet or halyard.

The Kayalite can be mounted upside-down, pulled tight to a zipper under a bimini top, or clipped to a boom or mast to illuminate your deck.

The Kayalite-SUP is the only premium quality portable SUP light that gives you the security of a clasping attachment system without requiring a bulky rigid permanent mounting. This is the basis of our patented "Secure-Attach" technology.

SUP leash plug clip

How does the Kayalite-SUP attach to my SUP?

The Kayalite-SUP includes a steel universal clip and also includes our new, patent-pending SUP-Clip™, a clip designed to add functionality for stand-up paddleboards.

As shown below, a shock cord (with clips attached) emerges from beneath the light's base. The clips can be fastened to a SUP leash plug, leash plug slip knot, FCS fin plug, D-ring, deckloop, eyelet or any fixed point of attachment on deck.

Once clipped, the Kayalite's shock cord is pulled taut and cinched directly onto a cleat on light's mast.

As an alternative to clipping the Kayalite-SUP to a fixed point of attachment such as a leash plug or D-ring, the light can be clipped and pulled taut to deck rigging or one or more taut bungee cords. While taut bungees may not be as stable as a fixed point of attachment, they work really well in a pinch.

A seaworthy beacon, fully integrated...

The Kayalite-SUP includes our new diffusion lens!

Kayalite diffusion lens

The titanium-infused diffusion lens increases visibility across the watersheet.

The Kayalite-SUP, waterproof and submersible to 1000 feet (300 m), features a bright white 2-LED module providing visibility required of a "vessel under oars" (i.e. kayak, canoe, SUP, etc.) as defined by international, U.S. Coast Guard Rules and inland waterways regulations.

The Kayalite-SUP's 2-LED module is rated for over 100 hours of service on three AA batteries (included).

Life of each LED is rated at 10,000 hours of service.

portable stern light

Trust a Kayalite, from dusk till dawn.

When paddling in darkness, you should never find yourself offshore with a portable light that could detach on impact, pull away or lose suction. And if you do, you should consider the odds of a recovery.

How do you respond, in a situation of distress? Plan ahead.

The Kayalite-SUP is stable and strong yet resilient to survive a direct impact. Once the Kayalite is attached to your paddleboard, it remains attached even when its nylon-coated shock cord is loosened.

A SUP light with a rigid mount may impede successful reboarding after a fall or capsize, or snap or break off if forcefully pulled. The Kayalite-SUP, however, can be loosened from its cleat and pulled out of the way temporarily (while remaining fastened) during a climb back on board. And if unclipped and accidentally dropped overboard, the Kayalite-SUP floats.

About the Kayalite-SUP's EVA foam base...

A single grain of sand caught under a hard base or suction-cup can scratch the smooth SUP deck's surface. Not only can repeated attachment of a SUP light damage a smooth deck, over time even a minor imperfection such as a scratch can render a suction-cup's vacuum seal unreliable.

The Kayalite-SUP's soft EVA foam rubber base is designed to adapt to surface contours and protect the deck from scratches.

The Kayalite-SUP's base also enables the light to be used free standing, so the light can serve double-duty at a campsite table, in a tent — even as a weatherproof torch for a midnight hike in rain, sleet or snow.
